Shopping for your wedding dress is a magical, exciting experience. At Elizabeth Rose Bridal, we offer exclusive use of the boutique for your appointment so that you receive private, one to one attention with your bridal stylist. In this time you will be able to browse our collections, try on and style your chosen gowns. We have a spacious dressing area and it is entirely yours for the duration of the appointment. We understand that it can all be a little overwhelming at times, simply because it is new. With this in mind and to help you relax before your visit, we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions.
BEFORE YOUR VISIT
I’m engaged but haven’t set a date or booked a venue for my wedding yet, can I still book an appointment?
The time of year and type of venue usually has a big influence on the style of dress you will choose. Deciding on these important details before you start your search will make finding your perfect dress much easier and more enjoyable.
For these reasons, we require that you have confirmed a wedding date and venue before you book an appointment.
When should I start my dress search?
We recommend that you begin searching for your dress approximately 12 months prior to your wedding date and that you place an order no later than 8 months before. This ensures that your dress can be produced, delivered and fitted in plenty of time.
If you have less than 8 months before your wedding date, a dress could still be made in time but it may incur a rush fee.
What is the price range at Elizabeth Rose Bridal?
Our gowns start at £1,300 and go up to £3,000 (prices exclude alterations cost). Please factor into your budget that almost every gown will require some form of alteration to make sure it looks amazing and fits perfectly on your wedding day.
Do you sell mother of the bride outfits, bridesmaid dress or grooms wear?
Sorry, no. Our focus is on finding the perfect wedding dress and accessories for our brides.
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT
How do I make an appointment?
Elizabeth Rose Bridal operates ‘by appointment only’ which simply ensures that we can give you our undivided attention and that you get the boutique all to yourself. You can make an appointment by using the online booking form.
Do you offer evening or Sunday appointments?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer appointments outside of our usual opening hours.
I’ve booked an appointment but can no longer make it. What do I need to do?
If you can’t make your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours before the start time of your appointment. We can then offer your appointment to another bride to be.
AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
What should I expect at my appointment?
We’ll spend a few minutes chatting with you about your wedding plans and ideas you have for your dress. From here, we can then start to look at and pick out gowns for you to try on. If it’s your first appointment anywhere, we may spend a little bit longer looking at different shapes and silhouettes to find a style that suits you. However, if you’ve already visited a few boutiques, you will probably have a good idea as to what you’re looking for.
Is there parking near the boutique?
Yes, there is usually plenty of on street parking in Marsh Drive, adjacent to the boutique.
Can I wear fake tan or make up?
Please don’t wear fake tan or heavy make up on the day of your appointment as our dresses are made of beautiful, delicate fabrics that we don’t wish to be stained or spoiled!
How many guests can I bring to my appointment?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate large groups. We are a small, intimate boutique and can comfortably seat 2-3 guests. We suggest that you only bring your nearest, dearest and most trusted with you. Most brides find that lots of opinions aren’t helpful and can result in you feeling frustrated or overwhelmed. Remember, this is your special moment, not a day out for everyone!
Can I bring children along to my appointment?
We appreciate the care and attention that children need. We want you to be able to relax and concentrate on finding your perfect wedding dress, so we politely ask that you leave children at home in the care of loved ones.
What sizes are your samples?
Our samples are mainly size 12 so there’s every chance you’ll be trying on a dress that isn’t your size so you’ll need a little bit of imagination! We use clips and pins where possible to hold the sample dresses in place whilst you try them on.
Can I take photos during my appointment?
We do allow you and your guests to take photographs but please do keep in mind that a photo of you in a sample dresses won’t be a true reflection of how you’ll look on your wedding day.
PURCHASING YOUR DRESS
How do I pay for my wedding dress?
We require 50% of the total price on the day of ordering, with the remaining 50% due at your first fitting appointment, approximately 8 weeks before your wedding day.
Can I purchase a sample dress?
Yes! All of our sample gowns are lovingly cared for to keep them in perfect condition for all of our brides to enjoy. We have sample sales throughout the year which are fantastic if you are short of time or looking for a bargain.
Sample dresses must be paid for in full and taken away on the day of purchase. Unfortunately, we are unable to store sample wedding dresses.
Can I change or cancel my order?
All gowns are made to order so once you’ve placed your order with us and paid 50% of the total balance, we will instruct the designer to begin production of your wedding dress. Orders are final and require the remaining 50% of the balance to be paid when the dress arrives with us.
FITTING AND ALTERATIONS
Do you have a recommended seamstress?
We work with a local seamstress who has over 25 years experience with couture gowns. If you’d like to use our seamstress, we will arrange for her to attend your first fitting where she will be able to help and advise you and provide you with a quote for the required alterations.
What do I need to bring along to a fitting?
You’ll need to bring along your wedding day shoes and underwear to all fittings so that your wedding dress is adjusted correctly.
When will I have my first fitting?
Your dress will arrive with us approximately 8 weeks before your wedding day and we will aim to see you for your first fitting within 1-2 weeks. This allows plenty of time for alterations and additional fittings.
How much do alterations cost?
As alternations can vary for each bride, we do not include alterations in the purchase price of your dress. We recommend budgeting £250 to £400 for alterations. Please be aware that if you require further bespoke customisation or extensive alterations, the cost will be higher.
